Well first a week ago today I had to take Hottie to urgent care. She had a fever of 103 for the third day, the Doc does some tests. The next thing I know an ambulance pulls into the parking lot and Hottie is on her way to the horse-pistol! After kicking the fever and pneumonia for the most part, the powers that be in Flagstaff say "okay Hottie you got to go!" Yeah all roads into flag are closed Hottie without a coat, no car and now stuck in a hotel in Flagstaff! I'm stuck here in Seligman. When I say Seligman I mean 12 miles south of I-40 exit 121 on a road that is not maintained by the county or the Home Association that my brother pays for every year! That will be the topic of another blog.
*********************Storm Warning*********************************
Let's give you who don't live in AZ a little background. First came the snow then the sun melted most of it. Round two a little more snow, then round three which is still going on! Here comes close to two feet of snow! at this point Dave is feeding chickens, horses, hamsters, iguanas, turtles, fish and of course 8 dogs! I feeling pretty proud actually thinking as I walk through my duties that this reminiscent of a Wyoming cowboy in a frosty old west winter. Just has I am enjoying the romanticism of a cowboy winter and making my way up a small rise I realize that the ground below the snow is slick, very slick! To be sure of this fact I go ahead and get a face to snow look has I go down! By the way that cowboy winter no so romantic at this point. I pick myself up and finish the process of feeding watering and so on! Now I go inside my brother Bob's house where his seven dogs have adjourned on the couch for a wet warm fest! As I complete my inside chores, I sit down at the kitchen table to make some phone calls on my At&T Blackberry Curve with the best 3G network right. Well I may be able to browse while being on the phone which you can't on Verizion, to make a call I must sit at the kitchen table with my left leg propped up, tin foil between my toes. Of course I have my right leg has to be touching the fridge which I believe gives me a bit of a ground. I must freeze my head without moving, luckily I found one of those neck braces for whiplash which helps me to stay still! This is when I get the news, well two types of news first Hottie is getting out and that poses a problem and it's now raining so hard the trees which formerly were literally weighed down to the point of touching the ground in spots due to the heavy snow (I of course did not take the time to snap a pic and now the snow is melting by the second). This did cure the once every thirty minute ritual of climbing up a ladder with a piece of long pipe taped to a broom MacGyver style to allow me to remove snow and ice from my hughesnet and direct TV dishes! Ah the romantic Montana - Wyoming life!
Now with heavy rain and wind but no ice on the dishes I'm inside the 5th Wheeler watching the History Channel's Mountain Men feeling nice and cozy. I'm really starting to get into the Mountain Men show. Cujo is full of bones and at my feet then BOOM! Power goes out! Now I'm not watching the Mountain Men I am One!
It's pitch black freezing and I can't find the flash light or the candles, wait he's a candle now I need a lighter. If I could only find the flashlight then I could light a candle and find the flashlight hang on! Which did come first the chicken or the egg, hey I know this one it's flash on the kitchen counter! Now Cujo are in bed with the flashlight and the candles. When wake the power is on, the TY is back and now instead of the Mountain Men we're learning how to shape our abs in 6 days!
Meanwhile back at the ranch I get the news Hottie is safe the snow as melted from the roadway and I'm off to rescue my damsel! Hottie is home! I'll catch up again soon!
Dave OUT!
